RGM, or Revenue Growth Management, is Colgate-Palmolive's strategic approach to boost revenue. Colgate maximizes profit by reducing cost prices and increasing Average Selling Price (ASP), leading to slim margins for customers (State 1). Consequently, customers compel Colgate to reduce ASP for better margins, resulting in reduced profit for Colgate (State 2). RGM addresses this by finding optimal parameters to increase ASP for customers while maintaining better margins through higher shelf prices, ensuring satisfaction throughout the supply chain and providing better value for consumers.
In Revenue Growth Management, the challenge lies in going beyond assumptions to devise data-driven long-term strategies for optimal outcomes. By tapping into historical data with machine learning, can we uncover the relationships between strategies and their impact for informed and effective business decisions that increases the revenue growth?

2. Forecast bias
Scenario planning is a strategic feature under RGM that envisions various future scenarios to anticipate challenges and opportunities. It helps Colgate make informed decisions by exploring different "what if" situations, adapting strategies to potential outcomes for dissecting the business, identifying opportunities, and making data-driven decisions.
1. Identified more than $110 million in opportunities in 2023.
2. Created 1 design system component and documentation driving consistency and efficiency
1. Decrease in forecast bias, resulting in precise projections and strategic decision-making to optimize business outcomes
In today's business landscape, leveraging existing data is crucial for making informed decisions and predicting future trends. Scenario planning equips decision makers to strategically anticipates challenges and opportunities within RGM.
1. Accuracy in promo plan calculations
Initial promo plan design did not integrate multiple variables, leading to inflexible calculations. The feedback revealed the predominant importance of TPR for promo planning for v1 that provides the flexibility and precision in calculations which we used for v1.
2. Demonstrate benefits to customers
There was a strong suggestion to emphasize on illustrating to the customers how new scenarios can boost their profitability. This helps Colgate in making persuasive pitches, thereby strengthening customer trust and support. However, the current focus is at Colgate level.
Once the designs are finalized and reviewed with the PM, they are documented - detailing the screens, user-flow, specifications, and component resources, along with providing essential links for developers for easy reference and use.
The internship helped me grow as a designer & as a professional with some mistakes, learnings & reflections.
1. Prioritization
When given a task, I usually dive deep into the details, considering all constraints and potential challenges. Yet, under tight deadlines I understood the importance of prioritization, to balance between going wide and going deep, understanding when to wrap up and when to explore further, ensuring a pragmatic and effective approach. However, I'm still working on it.
2. Finding My VoiceAlongside talented designers and engineers, I sometimes felt less knowledgeable and struggled to voice my opinions. My mentor's advice, "say it for the product and not for the people," encouraged me to be more vocal—though it's still a work in progress.
